Jakarta (VNA) – A forum was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on April 6 to provide information about the vision, strategies, targets and initiatives for the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity to 2025 (MPAC 2025).
The connectivity in ASEAN covers social issues (transport, information technology and energy), institutions (liberalisation of trade, investment and services), and people-to-people connectivity (education, culture and tourism), which could create a more inclusive, competitive and connected community.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador Nguyen Hoanh Nam, Head of the Vietnamese Permanent Representative Delegation to ASEAN, said the association very early began working on the MPAC 2025.
After consulting with its international dialogue countries and organisations, ASEAN has now started to gather opinions from member countries involved in the first draft of the master plan, he said.
Vietnamese ministries and sectors will make active contributions to the draft in a range of fields such as institutions, policy, people and infrastructure, he added.
Other issues raised in the participants’ discussion included establishing database management frameworks for ASEAN member states, enhancing financial access through digital technology, and facilitating traveling within ASEAN.
A meeting is scheduled to take place in Jakarta on April 7 also focusing on vision, strategies, targets and initiatives for MPAC 2025.-VNA
